Wrapped Around Your FInger

It’s no secret that Alison Tyler’s one hell of a writer. Pick up any of her books and you will find tightly written stories with real people, not just characters, and a huge amount of ultra-steamy sex. Wrapped Around Your Finger is no exception to the rule but there is so much more going on here than just a great story (and it is a fantastic story—I assure you). There is such rawness here—an edginess to the writing—and as you are drawn deeper into Sam’s world you realize that Ms. Tyler is a pro in every sense of the word.  She’s a writer’s writer and she knows how to handle the language—coaxing you with her words, urging you to peek in, knowing exactly what to say to keep you on the edge.

Sam is the perfect narrator. Her casual tone invites you in, and you feel less as if you are reading a book and more like you are gossiping over shots of tequila with your favorite girlfriend. And even though she is ultimately a shy girl, she shares her story fearlessly; not because she isn’t afraid, but because, in the end, your judgment of her is not the one that matters.

Her life with Jack is an erotic rollercoaster, and she’s caught between the highs of her overwhelming lust and the depths of utter devastation. But it’s a delicious ride and she sweeps you along with her every step of the way.  You can smell the leather of Jack’s belt, can feel the delicious blush of Sam’s shame, and the tremendous pleasure that comes when Jack finally offers her that heady mixture of pain and release.

Sam’s story is dizzying in the best way, and you want to hang on tight, want to know what happens next. There is a rumor that there are a proposed three more books in the series and I am excited for the possibilities, if a bit tormented by the wait. Like Sam, I need to know what Jack has planned for Paris, to try to prepare myself—even though we both know it’s never possible to be ready when he’s always 10-steps ahead of the game.

About Alison Tyler:  Called “a trollop with a laptop” by East Bay Express, “a literary siren” by Good Vibrations and “the mistress of literary erotica” by Violet Blue, Alison Tyler is naughty and she knows it.

Over the past two decades, Ms. Tyler has written more than twenty-five explicit novels, including Dark Secret Love, The Delicious Torment, and Tiffany Twisted. Her novels and short stories have been translated into Japanese, Dutch, German, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Greek. When not writing sultry short stories, she edits erotic anthologies, including Sudden Sex, The Big Book of Bondage, Kiss My Ass, Cuffed, and Bound for Trouble. She is also the author of several novellas including Cuffing Kate, Giving In, Banging Rebecca, and Those Girls.

Ms. Tyler is loyal to coffee (black), lipstick (red), and tequila (straight). She has tattoos, but no piercings; a wicked tongue, but a quick smile; and bittersweet memories, but no regrets. She believes it won’t rain if she doesn’t bring an umbrella, prefers hot and dry to cold and wet, and loves to spout her favorite motto: You can sleep when you’re dead. She chooses Led Zeppelin over the Beatles, the Cure over NIN, and the Stones over everyone. Yet although she appreciates good rock, she has a pitiful weakness for ’80s hair bands.

In all things important, she remains faithful to her partner of nineteen years, but she still can’t choose just one perfume.

Summer Loving Tour

Like most writers, I am a huge reader, and escaping the summer heat is the perfect excuse to stay in and read a book.  Summer Loving is the perfect length for summer reading, with stories short enough that you can read through them all in one lazy afternoon or, if you prefer, you can savor them one at a time, bite by bite.

But don’t expect this book to help you beat the heat—Summer Loving brings some serious heat of its own. This little book is packed with 20 sexy stories celebrating Summer in all its sultry glory—from sexy romps at the beach to steamy summer rains, from backyard gardens to far-away vacation destinations—and all points in between.  And just because these stories are all about Summer, don’t think they are all the same.  There is a lot of variety here and a few surprises as well, with each author putting his or her own sexy spin on the theme.

Some of the stand-out stories in this anthology are:  Jodi Griffin’s “Summer Surrender,” May Deva’s “Tell Me,” A.M. Hartnett’s “To Hell with Sunset,” Delilah Night’s “Baby, It’s Hot Outside,” and Thomas S. Roche’s “Hot Tomato” (nothing sexier than a perfectly ripe tomato, I always say).

Summer Loving is a fun book, edited by the remarkable Alison Tyler, and published by eXcessica with all proceeds going to help the marvelous SommerMarsden and her family’s fight against cancer.

It is always such a treat, I think, to be able to indulge in a little naughtiness while contributing to a great cause and Summer Loving allows you to do just that.
